In February and March, La Caccina celebrates the legacy of Hildegard von Bingen in Hildegard Redux. von Bingen was one of the most important and prolific composers of the medieval period, and her poetic and compositional voice lives on to this day, inspiring musicians, playwrights, and poets, as well as millions of music-lovers around the world. In this concert, we will perform the virtuosic works of von Bingen herself, as well as those of contemporary composers who have been influenced by her distinctive voice and surprisingly-modern sensibilities.

In 2017, La Caccina covered Joni Mitchell's Blue in its entirety, paying homage to one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the 20th and 21st centuries. For our final concert of the season, we'll cover another iconic album by a genius singer-songwriter: Carole King's Tapestry. This concert will feature new arrangements of King's iconic songs by members of the ensemble, as well as an opening act by the Fierezza a cappella ensemble of Spirito Singers.

But that’s not all! Subscribers will also have exclusive access to Composer’s Forum, an intimate, salon-style performance that gives our subscribers an in-depth look at what it’s like to be a Young Composer-in-Residence with Hearing in Color and La Caccina. The event will begin with an interview with this season’s Young Composer-in-Residence Abisola Toukourou, hosted by the inimitable LaRob K. Rafael. After a brief Q&A session, enjoy performances of Toukourou’s commissioned piece by La Caccina, followed by a reception with the artists.
