Carling FitzSimmons is an advocate for new music in Chicago. After graduating from Kenyon College, Carling returned home to pursue a career in music and arts education. Lauded for her "sweet-toned" singing, Carling has performed with ensembles including Bella Voce, The William Ferris Chorale, and the Aestas Consort. Carling is also a passionate educator, conducing the Conservatory choirs at Merit School of Music, and serving as Artistic Director of Spirito Singers, a Chicago-area feminist youth choir. In addition to directing La Caccina, Carling has served as a guest conductor for Northwest Choral Society, The William Ferris Chorale, and the American Federation Pueri Cantores, and as a clinician at Goshen College, Kenyon College, Loyola University, and Young Naperville Singers. Carling holds a master’s degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University.
